Works on Nis railway junction in Serbia to start by mid-2013

The European Union is providing 1.5 million euro ($1.9 million) to finance the documentation and the feasibility study of the project, Serbian transport minister Milutin Mrkonjic said after signing the protocol for the support.

The Nis railway junction is the weakest point of railway corridor 10, Mrkonjic said adding that investment amount will depend on the final solution to the issue. The project envisages a relocation of the railway line from the city center, a move that will improve the traffic flow and safety in the city.
