October 22 (SeeNews) - Wages in Romania are set to grow by an average of 9.7% next year as outlined in the government's 2009 budget blueprint unveiled on Wednesday by Finance and Economy Minister Varujan Vosganian.

"There are certain sectors where the growth will be smaller, such as the diplomatic corp, and sectors where the increase will be higher, such as education and healthcare," Vosganian told a news conference.

In August salaries rose by 24% year-on-year, while consumer prices climbed by an annual 8.02%, the country's statistics board, INS, said earlier. The average net monthly salary in Romania that month was 1,277 lei ($463/360 euro).
