Vodafone Romania's adjusted operating profit rises 39% y/y in Apr-Sept

November 13 (SeeNews) - British wireless giant Vodafone said on Tuesday the adjusted operating profit of its Romanian unit increased 39% on the year to 64 million British pounds ($101.6 million/79.9 million euro) in the six months through September.

Vodafone Romania's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) fell 15.6% on the year to 119 million pounds in first half of fiscal year 2012/2013, ended on September 30, according to the group's financial results published on its website.

The total revenue of the Romanian unit fell to 311 million pounds in the period under review from 361 million a year earlier.

In the second quarter of fiscal year 2012/2013, Vodafone Romania's service revenue narrowed to 146 million pounds from 175 million a year ago, while its average revenue per user (ARPU) climbed to 7.4 euro ($9.4) from 7.2 euro a year earlier.

The company's mobile customer base rose to 7.874 million clients at the end of September from 7.798 million subscribers at the end of June, but was 8.4% down year-on-year. Postpaid subscribers accounted for 42.2% and prepaid for 57.8% of Vodafone Romania’s total subscriber base at the end of September.

The operator's users of fixed communications in Romania rose to 34,000 subscribers at the end of September from 32,000 at the end of June.
