August 18 (SeeNews) - Austria's Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) said on Thursday its operations in Moldova generated a pre-tax profit of 300,000 euro ($305,200) in the first half of 2022, down 42% year-on-year.
VIG's total gross written premiums in Moldova rose by an annual 14% to 2.8 million euro in the first half, the group said in a presentation of its preliminary unaudited results.
VIG's premiums from motor third party liability insurance (MTPL) in Moldova increased by an annual 31% to 6.6 million euro in the first half, Casco premiums rose by 21% to 1.8 million euro, while other property premiums rose by an annual 8.1% to 1.7 million euro.
Health insurance premiums were 16% higher on the year, reaching 0.4 million euro during January-June.
VIG sold no policies for regular and single life insurance in Moldova in the first half of 2022.
The group's net combined ratio in Moldova rose to 102% in the first half, compared to 92% a year earlier.
In Moldova, VIG is represented by Donaris company, which it acquired in 2014.
