CEZ said in August it has bought Fantanele and Cogealac wind farms in Romania, which it plans to develop into the largest onshore wind generation complex in Europe in a project worth 1.1 billion euro ($1.5 billion) and with a total capacity of 600 megawatts.
GE Energy's 2.5xl turbines, destined for the 347,5-megawatt Fantanele farm project are expected to be put into operation between April and December next year, the company said in a statement.
Romania plans to increase the installed capacity at its wind farms to 200 megawatts by the end of 2010 from some eight megawatts at the beginning of this year.
GE Energy is one of the world's leading suppliers of power generation and energy delivery technologies, providing a broad array of solutions for traditionally fueled plants as well as those driven by renewable resources such as wind power, sunlight and biogas.
