UPDATE 1 - Romania's Jan-Oct Trade Gap Widens 11.2% to 19.196 Bln Euro

December 10 (SeeNews) - Romania's trade gap in the 10 months through October widened by 11.2% from a year earlier to 19.196 billion euro ($24.8 billion), the country's statistics board, INS, said on Wednesday.

FOB (free-on-board) exports rose by 18.6% to nearly 29.02 billion euro in the first 10 months, while CIF (cost-insurance-freight) imports advanced by 15.5% to 48.216 billion euro, INS said in a statement. CIF figures, unlike the FOB data, include the price of insurance and transport of goods.

Vehicles and transport equipment were the most traded products through October, accounting for 35.1% of Romania's exports and 30.9% of its imports.

The European Union, which Romania joined in January last year, was the country's main trade partner in the first 10 months of this year, accounting for 70.3% of the country's total exports and 68.6% of its imports.
