September 16 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's consumer prices rose by 2.9% year-on-year in August, after increasing at the same rate in July, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Monday.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices edged up 0.1% in August, after growing 0.8% in July, NSI said in a statement.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the largest weight in the consumer basket, increased 5.2% year-on-year in the eighth month of 2019, while prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels rose 3.8%.
Prices in the transport segment decreased by 1.3% on the year in the review period.
Bulgaria’s EU-harmonised consumer price index (HICP) added 2.5% on the year in August and edged up 0.2% compared to July.
