February 5 (SeeNews) - Italy's UniCredit Group said on Monday that its net profit from operations in Romania rose 43.7% year-on-year to 296 million euro ($319 million) in fiscal year 2023.
Profit before tax climbed by 43.8% to 360 million euro last year, UniCredit Group said in an annual financial statement.
Net interest income generated by the Romanian unit, UniCredit Bank Romania, rose by an annual 24.1% to 432 million euro during the last fiscal year. Net fee income grew 12.3% to 155 million euro in the review period.
The volume of loans granted by the Romanian unit increased by an annual 10.1% to 8.1 billion euro in 2023, while deposits from customers added 11.9% to 10.2 billion euro.
During the fourth quarter of 2023 alone, UniCredit Bank Romania's net profit amounted to 75 million euro, up from 60 million euro recorded during the last three months of 2022.
