ISTANBUL (Turkey), December 18 (SeeNews) – Turkish defence company Aselsan [BIST:ASELS] said it has signed a 139.2 million Turkish lira ($59.8 million/48.5 million euro) agreement regarding a national communication satellite development project with government agency Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, TUBITAK.

Aselsan will make the deliveries within the context of the contract in 2015-2020, it said in a bourse filing on Wednesday.

The TURKSAT-6A National Communication Satellite Development and Production Project envisages the development and launch of the next Turkish communication satellite. Turkey launched its first communication satellite in 1994.

Aselsan, a subsidiary of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, develops and makes software, equipment, systems and platforms for the army, navy, air force and aerospace industries.
