Turkey, BioNTech sign contract for up to 30 mln Covid-19 vaccine doses - report

December 28 (SeeNews) - Turkey's health minister Fahrettin Koca said the country has signed a contract to receive up to 30 million doses of the vaccine developed by German biotechnology company BioNTech, local media reported.

Turkey will initially receive 550,000 doses of the vaccine but the number of delivered units will reach 4.5 million by the end of March, Daily Sabah quoted Koca as saying on Friday.

BioNTech developed the vaccine together with U.S. pharmaceutical company Pfizer.

As of Sunday, Turkey has registered 2.15 million Covid-19 cases, including 19,878 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
