SKOPJE (North Macedonia), October 14 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign tourists who visited North Macedonia in the first eight months of 2019 increased by 2.7% year-on-year to 510,056, the country's statistical office said on Monday.
The number of domestic tourists rose 1.3% to 328,989 in the period under review, Makstat said in a statement.
The total number of tourists staying in the country in the eight months through August increased by 2.1% year-on-year, reaching 839,045.
The number of overnights spent by tourists in North Macedonia in January-August rose 1.5% to 2,531,201.
In August alone, the total number of tourists staying in North Macedonia increased by 2.2% year-on-year to 216,321, with 100,132 of them being foreign nationals.
Out of the total number of foreign tourists who visited North Macedonia in August, 17.1% came from Turkey, 8.1% from Serbia and 7.4% from Poland.
