Total foreign remittances to Serbia decline 15.5% y/y in Jan-Sept

BELGRADE (Serbia), November 23 (SeeNews) – Total foreign remittances to Serbia decreased by 15.5% year-on-year to 2.494 billion euro ($2.963 billion) in the first nine months of 2020, central bank data shows.

In September alone, total foreign remittances to Serbia, including all current transfers between resident and non-resident households, grew by 16.7% on the year to 344 million euro, according to figures published by the central bank in a balance of payments report.

The remittances of citizens working abroad went down by 21.9% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2020 to 1.703 billion euro, after rising 12.7% on the year to 249 million euro in September, the data showed.

The flow of foreign remittances into Serbia decreased to 3.52 billion euro in 2019 from 3.53 billion euro in 2018.
