November 30 (SeeNews) - The Bulgarian communications regulator awarded local telecommunications operators A1, Yettel and Vivacom 15-year licences for the use of the radio frequency spectrum in the 700 MHz and 800 MHz bands for terrestrial networks.

The allocation of spectrum access in these frequency bands will enable the development of next-generation networks and the delivery of innovative broadband services in less densely populated areas, the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) said in a statement earlier this week.

The process for awarding the licences fulfils reforms of the uses of the country's radio frequency spectrum targeted by Bulgaria's National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the regulator noted.

The licences were granted following CRC's permit issued last month to open for use six new licences in the 700 MHz and 800 MHz frequency bands, hitherto used exclusively by the Bulgarian Air Force.
