Templeton fund buys 0.01% in OMV Petrom in last two weeks

December 10 (SeeNews) - Templeton Frontier Markets Fund has bought a total of 51,961,500 shares in Romanian oil and gas group OMV Petrom [BSE:SNP] over the last two weeks, equal to about 0.01% stake, the intermediaries of the transactions said.

The total value of the transactions is 19.6 million lei ($5.7 million/4.3 million). The price per share varied between 0.37 lei at the lowest and 0.397 lei at the highest.

The latest transaction of 3.0 million shares was brokered by Swiss Capital on December 6, while the biggest - of 19 million, was assisted by Wood & Company Financial Services on November 29, according to their bourse reports.

Templeton has listed OMV Petrom amongst its top 10 equity holdings in its first-half report. The fund held a 2.8% stake in the Romanian company as of September 30.

OMV Petrom is 51.01%-owned by Austrian group OMV. The Romanian economy ministry holds a 20.63% stake, while investment fund Fondul Proprietatea [BSE:FP] owns 20.11%. Fondul Proprietatea is managed by Templeton, and represented on OMV Petrom's supervisory board by Templeton's executive chairman, Mark Mobius.
