The introduction of next-generation services primarily depends on the regulator now, Miroslav Grbovic, head of network planning at Telenor Serbia, told Tanjug (www.tanjug.rs) on Sunday.
The Serbian ministry of tellecommunications announced in October that it will make re-allocation of frequencies after the complete digitalization of television. The released radio frequencies will used for the introduction of new generation mobile telephony.
Telenor’s is possibly the only network on the Serbian market that supports all-IP infrastructure which meets the 4G standards, Grbovic said. Tests carried out in August 2011 on the LTE network trials supported download speeds of 150 Mbps and upload speeds of 50 Mbps, he added.
VIP Mobile’s pilot 4G network supported 65 Mbps download and 23 Mbps upload speeds, company’s director of the technological development department, Dejan Kastelic said as quoted by Tanjug.
VIP Mobile and Telenor Serbia’s competitor on the 7.3 million inhabitants Serbian market is Telekom Srbija's mobile arm, MTS.
