BANJA LUKA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), January 21 (SeeNews) – Telekom Slovenije’s Bosnian subsidiary, Aneks, has acquired cable operator Profel Komunikacije based in the western Bosnian town of Prijedor, Banja Luka-based daily Nezavisne Novine reported on Wednesday.

Telekom Slovenije’s Bosnian Unit Acquires Local Cable Operator Profel - Media

Profel supplies cable television in Prijedor and has licences to offer these services in the administrative centre of Bosnia’s Serb Republic, Banja Luka, and the western town of Sanski Most, Nezavisne reported.

The Serb Republic is one of the two autonomous parts forming war-divided Bosnia. The other is the Muslim-Croat Federation.

Aneks also plans to take over Prijedor-based internet provider KI Sistemi, Nezavisne reported.

Last September, Aneks and its owner Telekom Slovenije said they would invest at least 8.1 million euro ($10.5 million) in upgrading Aneks’ broadband network, strengthening the optical network in Banja Luka, buying internet protocol (IP) equipment and expanding its office network in the Serb Republic.

Telekom Slovenije has been present on the Serb Republic's market since 2006 when it bought local internet provider Blic.net. In 2007, it acquired the Aneks company, active in fixed-line telephony and computer system integration services, and merged the two firms under the name of Aneks. Telekom Slovenije also bought local cable operator Netkom in September and has said it will merge Aneks and Netkom under the name Aneks.

Aneks has said it expects a net profit of one million euro on revenue of 12 million euro for 2008. It has 12,000 clients in the Serb Republic, half of which use broadband access. The company employs 51.
