Telekom Slovenije will continue to build its fibre optic network both in urban and rural areas, including in places where there is no market interest, or no network has been built yet, Slovenia's biggest telecommunications operator said in a bourse filing on Thursday.

"Our investment in Telekom Slovenije is a contribution to the increased quality of life and doing business in Slovenia and allows the country to accelerate digitalization and modernization. For the EIB, this operation reinforces our pledge to support sustainable, long-term economic and social development of Slovenia," the EIB vice president Lilyana Pavlova was quoted as saying in the filing.

Telekom Slovenije's fibre optic network is available to more than 360,000 Slovenian households.

The company's shares traded flat at 43.20 euro by 14:14 CET on Friday on the Ljubljana bourse.
