October 25 (SeeNews) - Telekom Austria said the earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of its Macedonian subsidiary one.Vip rose to 23.5 million euro ($16.5 million) in the first nine months of 2017, up 16.1% on the year on a proforma basis.

One.Vip's total revenues in the first nine months declined 3.3% year-on-year to 85.5 million euro mostly due to a drop in interconnection revenues in both the mobile and the fixed-line segments, Telekom Austria said in a financial statement on Wednesday.

In the third quarter alone, one.VIP’s EBITDA rose 29.4% year-on-year to 9.3 million euro, while revenues edged down by 0.2% to 30.2 million euro.

Total costs and expenses fell by an annual 9.5% in the third quarter, mainly driven by cost synergies deriving from the merger with ONE as well as lower interconnection expenses.

The company’s mobile customer base decreased by 2.2% year-on-year in the July-September period, as customers continued to move from multiple prepaid to single contract subscriptions. In the fixed-line business, the number of revenue generating units (RGU) increased by 5.0% on the year, with RGU growth driven by strong demand for broadband products.

one.Vip competes with T-Mobile Macedonia, part of Deutsche Telekom, on a market of some two million people.
