September 26 (SeeNews) - Suzlon Wind Energy BH, the Bosnian subsidiary of Danish renewable energy solutions provider Suzlon Energy, has started the construction of the 25 MW Ivan Sedlo wind farm, an investment worth 70 million marka ($34.6 million/35.8 million euro), the government of Sarajevo Canton said on Monday.

The works on the wind farm are expected to take 18 months, the government of Sarajevo Canton said in a press release.

The wind power plant will generate about 70 GWh annually, enough to power about 6% of the total electricity demand in the canton.

The capacity of the wind power plant could be further expanded by 35 MW, the cantonal government noted.

The wind farm is located in Ivan Sedlo mountain pass, some 20 km west of Sarajevo. The Sarajevo Canton is one of ten cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of two entities in the country. The other is the Serb Republic.
