BELGRADE (Serbia), September 30 (SeeNews) – A strike at state-owned aircraft maintenance company JAT Tehnika grounded the planes of Serbia's flag carrier JAT Airways on Wednesday, JAT Airways said.
JAT Tehnika, which employs about 1,000, went on strike late on Tuesday after JAT Airways failed to pay debt owed to the maintenance company, causing a one-month delay delay in the payment of salaries at JAT Tehnika, JAT Airways said in a statement made available to SeeNews on Wednesday.
JAT Airways aircraft will remain grounded until 3 p.m. local time (1300 GMT) on Wednesday.
“JAT Airways owes JAT Tehnika between 120 million dinars ($1.9 million/1.3 million euro) and 150 million dinars at present,” an official of JAT Tehnika official, who refused to be named, told SeeNews over the phone.
JAT Tehnika was spun off three years ago from JAT Airways.
