November 29 (SeeNews) - Spanish hospitality group Melia Hotels International said it has signed contracts to open three franchise hotels in Albania, increasing the number of its projects in the country to seven.
The contracts concern a 460-room beachfront resort in the coastal city of Golem, a 46-room hotel in Tirana and a 120-room hotel in Berat, Melia Hotels said in a statement last week.
The hotel in Tirana is expected to open by the end of 2022, whereas the hotel in Berat is planned to open in 2024.
Together with the three franchise hotels, Melia will have in the pipeline seven hotels with nearly 1,600 rooms in Albania.
Last year, Melia said it plans to open four hotels in Albania - one in Tirana and three on the Adriatic Sea coast. The projects encompass a 125-room flagship hotel in Tirana, expected to open in 2025, two beach resorts in Durres, which will open in 2023, and one 142-room luxury hotel in Palasa Beach in Saranda.
