SOFIX was propelled by fertiliser producer Neochim [BUL:NEOH], which jumped 4.27% to 22.00 levs, and pharmaceuticals trader Sopharma Trading [BUL:SFT], which added 3.57% to 5.80 levs.

The two companies also lifted the BGBX40 index, which tracks the 40 most traded shares on the Sofia bourse, by 0.37% to 162.87 points. The leading constituent, however, was diversified group Synergon Holding [BUL:SNRG], which surged 7.87% to 1.37 levs.

The BGTR30, in which companies with a free float of at least 10% have equal weight, closed 0.42% higher at 809.22 points. It was pushed up by the rises at Neochim and Sopharma Trading, coupled with a 3.25% climb in pharmaceuticals maker Sopharma [BUL:SFA] to 6.36 levs.

A 0.78% advance in Bulgarian Real Estate Fund REIT [BUL:BREF] to 2.60 levs spurred on the BGREIT, which tracks seven real estate investment trusts. The index grew by 0.09% to 191.05 points.

However, the BEAMX index, which tracks the ten most highly capitalised growth companies, closed unchanged from the previous day's close, at 98.36 points.

Most of the day's turnover, or some 3.31 million levs ($1.83 million/1.69 million euro), was generated by Varna-based Galata Investment Company [BUL:GTH] after 1.3 million shares changed hands. The stock closed 1.60% higher at 2.54 levs.

Total turnover on the main market of the Sofia bourse soared to a little over 3.9 million levs on Friday from 431,587 levs on Thursday.

The BSE will be closed for trading on Monday, March 4, which is a public holiday in Bulgaria.
