The decision to relocate the mill to Maribor, in Slovenia's northeast, is part of Zito Group's business strategy and aims to lower costs by bringing the mill closer to grain producers, Zito said in a statement made available to SeeNews on Wednesday.
The entire investment and the related conversion of a bakery into a packaging facility and flour storage unit is expected to cost a total of 3.0 million euro ($3.86 million). The six-month project, officially completed with the launch on October 3 of the modernised mill, was co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and by the Slovenian government, the statement said.
The main line of business of the Ljubljana-based Zito Group (www.zito.si) is flour milling and production of bread and other bakery products, confectionery and pasta. It also produces frozen foods, rice, tea and spices.
