Slovenia's Triglav 9-mo cons gross life premiums down 3.8%, non-life drop 7.8%

November 30 (SeeNews) - Slovenian insurance group Triglav said on Friday its gross non-life insurance premiums fell 7.8% to 510.4 million euro ($664 million) through September while life insurance premiums dropped 3.8% to 154.6 million euro.

In the first half of 2012, the group posted a total of 732.1 million euro in consolidated gross insurance and coinsurance premium or 5.0% less than in the respective period of 2011, Triglav said in an unaudited nine-month report posted on the website of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange.

Consolidated health insurance premiums reached 67.1 million euro over the review period, up 12% on the year.

The nine-month share of gross written premiums charged in Slovenia increased by 0.7 percentage points to 82.6% compared to the respective period in the previous year.

Consolidated gross claims - including claim handling costs and subrogation receivables, rose 3.0% to 449.5 million euro through September.

Triglav, which has a 37% share on its domestic market, said there were 16 insurance companies and three foreign branch offices active in Slovenia in the first three quarters of 2012. Together they recorded gross written premiums amounting to 1.57 billion euro, down 3.5% on the year.
