Slovenia’s Abanka Vipa Plans Parent Net Profit of 36 Mln Euro in 2009

December 9 (SeeNews) - Slovenia’s third largest bank by assets, Abanka Vipa, plans a parent net profit of 36 million euro ($46 million) next year, up from an estimated 29 million euro in 2008, the bank said on Tuesday.

Parent assets at the end of next year are expected to reach 3.872 billion euro, up 5.0% from the end of 2008, Abanka Vipa said in a statement to the Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE), where its shares are listed.

Abanka reported a 20.4% fall in parent net profit to 22.368 million euro in the first nine months of 2008. Parent assets totalled 3.714 billion euro at the end of September, up 8.0% from the end of 2007.

The bank had a market share of 7.9% in terms of assets at the end of September. Eighteen banks operate in the country of two million people, which entered the eurozone in 2007.

Shares of Abanka Vipa last traded on the LJSE on Monday when they lost 5.3% to an average price of 50 euro.
