Slovenia’s Abanka Vipa Gets Regulatory Nod To List Shares on Ljubljana Bourse

October 17 (SeeNews) - Slovenia’s securities market regulator has approved the prospectus for the listing of shares of the country's third largest bank by assets, Abanka Vipa, on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE), the bank said on Friday .

"We filed a request [for listing on the LJSE] and now we are waiting for the Ljubljana bourse's answer," Abanka's public relations officer, Vlasta Jurecic, told SeeNews.

Abanka Vipa reported a group net profit of 20.493 million euro ($28 million) in the first half of 2008, down from 21.571 million euro a year earlier. Group assets rose by 6.3% through June to 3.74 billion euro.

Abanka Vipa had a market share of 7.9% in terms of assets at the end of June, up from 7.5% at the end of March. Eighteen banks operate in Slovenia, a country of two million people, which joined the European Union in 2004 and entered the eurozone in 2007.
