March 1 (SeeNews) - Slovenian state-run project company 2TDK officially opened the Vinjan viaduct on the second track of the Divaca-Koper railway line, it said.
The 620-metre viaduct is the largest one on the route of the second track and connects the Mlinarji tunnel to the last tunnel on the line, the Skofije tunnel, 2TDK said in a statement earlier this week.
The route of the second track runs over three viaducts. The Glinscica viaduct was built in 2022 and the Gabrovica viaduct was launched at the end of last year. The construction of the Vinjan viaduct, which bridges the Vinjan Valley, began in the spring of 2022.
Last year, Slovenia's government extended to the middle of 2026 from the end of 2025 the deadline for the construction of a second track of the Divaca-Koper railway line, built by a consortium led by Slovenia's Kolektor CPG. The government also revised the estimated investment value of the remaining works to 1.027 billion euro ($1.113 billion) from 940 million euro.
