October 22 (SeeNews) - Slovenian stock indices lost nearly two percent each on Wednesday as investors cashed in their equity positions, brokers said.

Slovenian Stock Indices Lose Ground as Investors Cash In Shares – Brokers

The blue-chip SBITOP index of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE) lost 1.96% to 1,236.57 and the broader 15-share SBI20 index was down 1.85% to 5,491.86.

“Investors are indifferent. The investors who are selling are those that need to sell,” the head of the brokerage department of local Abanka Vipa, Tomislav Apollonio, told SeeNews. He added that those investors had bought shares on credit.

“On the other hand, buyers [at the moment] are more or less speculators,” Apollonio said, adding that buyers on the current market are not long-term investors.

Apollonio expects high volatility on the market in the following days. “We will share the fate of global markets,” he added.

Movements on the LJSE have followed trends on global markets in the last few weeks.

All 10 blue chips lost value on Wednesday. Brewer Pivovarna Lasko was the biggest decliner among them, losing 7.92% to an average price of 54.04 euro ($71) on turnover of some 16,000 euro.

Pivovarna Lasko was followed by blue-chip household appliance manufacturer Gorenje, which fell 2.74% to 19.16 euro on turnover of some 30,000 euro.

Shares of heavyweight blue-chip drug maker Krka were most traded on Wednesday as they lost 2.1% to 69.14 euro on turnover of some 773,000 euro.

LJSE's total turnover fell slightly to 4.04 million euro on Wednesday from 4.39 million euro on Tuesday, with the bond market contributing 2.3 million euro to the total turnover.
