January 23 (SeeNews) - Slovenian stock indices fell slightly on Friday in line with losses on the European markets, brokers said.

Slovenian Stock Indices Fall Slightly, Track Losses in Europe

The blue-chip SBITOP index of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE) shed 0.67% to 901.79 points and the broader 15-share SBI20 index fell 0.96% to 3,855.00 points.

The Slovenian indices continued their negative trend on Friday as did their European counterparts, local brokerage Ilirika said in a daily note.

The country’s largest insurer, Zavarovalnica Triglva, was the top blue-chip loser on Friday, falling 5.4% to an average price of 16.63 ($21).

Drug maker Krka was the biggest gainer among the blue chips, rising 1.33% to 53.81 euro on the day’s highest turnover of 982,000 euro.

Total turnover on the LJSE fell to 2.12 million euro on Friday from 2.89 million euro on Thursday.

The Slovenian share indices lost around two-thirds of their value last year amidst global market woes.

Market analysts have said the Slovenian stock exchange is likely to be the first to recover among the markets in southeastern Europe because it is dominated by local investors while foreign investors, who fled the region last year, have a limited role on it.
