Slovenian stock index picks up 19.6% in 2014

December 31 (SeeNews) - The benchmark index of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE), the SBITOP, gained 19.6% in 2014 as total annual turnover increased 75%, the bourse operator said on Wednesday.

The SBITOP, which tracks the most liquid and highly capitalised stocks on the LJSE, rose for the third consecutive year in 2014, to reach 784.12 points on Tuesday, a last trading day for this year, the bourse said in a statement .

In 2014 total turnover on the LJSE stood at 686.3 million euro ($837 million). Turnover excluding block transactions added up to 460.1 million euro, 50% up on the year.

Equity deals amounted to 608.1 million, or 88.6% of the total turnover. Bonds accounted for 10% of total turnover and commercial papers had a 1.3% share of total turnover.

The most liquid company in 2014 on the prime market was blue-chip drug maker Krka [LJE:KRKG], which generated 27% of the total equity turnover.

Next came automotive parts producer Letrika [LJE:IALG], which accounted for 11% of all equity deals, and brewer Pivovarna Lasko [LJE:PILR] with an 8.9% share.

The equity market capitalisation was 6.214 billion euro in 2014.

In 2014 LJSE saw eight new bond listings and six capital increases.
