October 21 (SeeNews) - Slovenia’s seaports handled 15.0 million tonnes of cargo in the first eight months of 2022, up 12.4% on the year, data from the country's statistical office showed.
The Slovenian seaports serviced a total of 77,560 passengers in January-August, up from only 1,266 in the like period of last year, according to data posted on the website of the statistical office.
In August alone, Slovenia's seaports handled 2.026 million tonnes of cargo, up 41.4%, whereas the number of passengers went up to 25,241 from 1,116.
Koper, with an annual capacity of 18 million tonnes, is the major seaport in Slovenia. Izola and Piran are smaller ports in the country.
