December 22 (SeeNews) - The Slovenian government adopted another economic stimulus package, its seventh, aimed at mitigating the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the country's economy, labour market, and social and healthcare systems, it said.
The proposed legal steps target helping the socially disadvantaged groups, as well as healthcare, tourism and transport companies, and social and healthcare workers, the government said in a statement during the weekend.
With the new package, the government is introducing solidarity allowance for pensioners, a one-time solidarity allowance for children and students, allowances for families with three and more children, extraordinary assistance of 500 euro ($609) at child birth, a 200 euro supplement for employees with salaries of up to two bottom wages, and funding for bank loan guarantees, among others.
In addition, it will provide cash compensations for loss of employment for the duration of the declared coronavirus epidemic.
State news agency STA reported on Monday that the new package is worth 550 million euro ($671 million) and will be put to the vote in parliament on December 29.
On December 17, the government in Ljubljana decided to extend by one month, until January 18, the state of a Covid-19 epidemic as the number of new infections remains high.
