Slovenian drug maker Krka's 9-mo net profit declines 22% y/y

November 17 (SeeNews) - Slovenian pharmaceuticals producer Krka [LJE:KRKG] recorded a consolidated net profit of 235.6 million euro ($255.9 million) in the first nine months of 2023, down 22% on the year, the company said.

Consolidated sales revenue increased by an annual 8% to 1.341 billion euro in January-September, Krka said on Thursday in a statement on the group's preliminary operating results for the nine-month period.

The operating profit (EBIT) of the Krka group grew 37% on the year to 320.3 million euro, while the operating profit before depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) went up 27% to 398.2 million euro.

The Krka group allocated 81.5 million euro to investments in the first nine months of 2023, of which 69 million euro placed by the controlling company.

The group employed 11,610 workers at the end of September, with 45% of them employed by the subsidiaries of Krka d.d. abroad.

Eastern Europe generated the highest sales within the group - of 434.1 million euro, up 5% on the year, with product sales in Russia - Krka's largest individual market, rising also by 3%, to 260 million euro.

Sales in Central Europe rose 9% on the year to 305.0 million euro in January-September, followed by sales of 266.4 million euro in Western Europe, up by an annual 10%.

Sales in Southeast Europe grew 8% to 187.2 million euro in the period under review, whereas sales in Slovenia increased 12% to 86.7 million euro and sales in the Overseas Markets segment went up 13% to 55.5 million euro.
