Slovenian banks double 2023 net profit

February 21 (SeeNews) - The net profit of commercial banks in Slovenia rose to 1.098 billion euro ($1.188 billion) in 2023 from 501.7 million euro in the previous year, the central bank said.

The banks' net interest income grew to 1.442 billion euro in the period under review from 747.8 million euro, whereas non-interest income went down 5.6% to 535.4 million euro, Bank of Slovenia said on Tuesday in its monthly report on the performance of the banking sector.

The total gross income of banks in Slovenia grew to 1.978 billion euro in 2023 from 1.315 billion euro, while operating costs increased 9.6% to 830.2 million euro.

The banks' total assets grew to 53.082 billion euro at end-December, up from 50.575 billion euro at the end of 2022.
