LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), December 31 (SeeNews) – Slovenia’s finance ministry has acquired full ownership of Nova Kreditna Banka Maribor (NKBM), following emergency measures taken by the country's central bank to stabilize the banking system, NKBM said on Tuesday.

Slovenia becomes full owner of lender NKBM

Earlier this month, the Slovenian central bank decided that all qualified liabilities of NKBM [LJE:KBMS], including the liabilities arising from its share capital, i.e. all the bank shares with the ISIN Code SI0021104052, ceased to have effect as of 18 December and were deleted from the central register of book-entry securities kept by the Central Securities Clearing Corporation of Ljubljana.

At the same time, NKBM  issued 10,000,000 new shares with the ticker symbol KBMS, as the finance ministry subscribed for all of them, the bank said in a filing with the Ljubljana Stock Exchange. Thereby, the finance ministry acquired 100% ownership interest in NKBM, it added.

Prior to the change, the finance ministry owned 91.24% of NKBM.

NKBM’s equity capital now totals 150 million euro ($206.7 million).
