March 14 (SeeNews) - Serbia's southern city of Vranje said it is planning to build a 12.5 million euro ($13.7 million) regional waste management centre with the support of German development bank KfW.
KfW will provide a 9.5 million euro grant towards the Meteris waste centre project, and the remainder will be provided by the city of Vranje, the city administration said in a statement earlier this week.
The project involves the expansion of the existing Meteris landfill to an overall 64 hectares that will also include a facility for waste sorting. The centre will service the needs of the six municipalities located in the Pcinja District, according to the statement.
The six municipalities are due to sign soon a joint agreement on carrying out all necessary activities towards the implementation of the project.
