March 20 (SeeNews) - Serbia's Nis Airport will open a new passenger terminal on July 1, the government said.
Inftrastructure minister Goran Vesic signed a contract for a phased construction and reconstruction of the internal traffic infrastructure and accompanying hydrotechnical, electrical and telecommunication installations at the airport with China Shandong International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group, the government said in a press release on Tuesday.
Vesic said that more than 10 million euro ($10.9 million) has been invested in the construction of the new terminal, while a further 16 million euro will be invested in the construction of access roads.
Earlier, Vesic said the new terminal will be able to handle 1.5 million passengers per year.
In 2023, the Nis Airport served 448,312 passengers, up 15% on the year.
