The company will build a 67,000-square metre shopping mall in Kragujevac, in central Serbia, which is due to be completed by the end of 2009, state-owned news agency Tanjug reported.
The shopping mall will be Plaza Centers' first investment in Serbia, according to earlier Tanjug reports. The news agency has quoted Kragujevac deputy mayor Nebojsa Zdravkovic as saying the centre will employ some 1,200 people. Previous media reports suggested that construction would begin in July 2008.
Multicon Engineering will also build a Plaza Centers office building covering 89,000 square metres in the capital Belgrade, Tanjug said. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2010.
Plaza Centers has announced that it planned to invest over 500 million euro to develop retail projects and hotels in Serbia by 2010.
Besides in Serbia, Plaza Centers (www.plazacenters.com ), a subsidiary of Israel-based Elbit Medical Imaging, develops projects in Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Romania, Greece and Bulgaria.
