Mining operations at Veliki Crljeni were halted after devastating floods triggered by record rainfall in May swamped the mine. Coal production was restored in August.

Although initial plans included mining around 600,000 tonnes of coal monthly until the end of the year, Veliki Crljeni produced 750,000 tonnes of lignite in October and 850,000 tonnes in November, Kolubara said in a statement.

Kolubara, which produced 30.7 million tonnes of coal in 2013, supplies the Nikola Tesla thermal power plant which covers more than 50% of Serbia's domestic electricity consumption.
