Serbia's govt proposes 11% hike of minimum hourly wage

September 11 (SeeNews) - Serbia's government has proposed an increase in the minimum hourly net wage by 11.1% to 172.5 dinars ($1.62/1.47 euro) as of next year, finance minister Sinisa Mali has said.

The increase will translate into a rise of the minimum monthly salaries to 30,022 dinars from 27,022 dinars, Mali said in a statement on Tuesday.

Moreover, the government plans to increase salaries in the public sector by November 1 and lift pensions by 5.1% - 5.5% as of January 1, 2020, Mali said.

Last month, the government launched talks with trade unions and employers for an increase of the minimum hourly net wage.

In September 2018, the government increased the minimum hourly net wage by 8.6% - to 155.3 dinars from 143 dinars, as of January 1, 2019.
