March 19 (SeeNews) - Around 250 employees of Serbian pharmaceuticals producer Galenika went on strike on Monday, demanding a 10% increase in salaries on average, local media reported on Tuesday.
Galenika’s employees have been in negotiations with the management since November 2023, media outlet Blic reported.
The strike will continue until the employees' demands are met, head of the trade union, Zoran Pantelic, was quoted as saying.
The union is pushing for an increase in the average salary by around 10%, and for the lowest wages to be raised by between 15% and 20%, according to Pantelic.
In 2017, Aelius, a company affiliated to Brazilian pharma group EMS, purchased a 93.7% stake in Galenika from the Serbian government for 16 million euro and later squeezed out minority shareholders.
