BELGRADE (Serbia), December 31 (SeeNews) – Serbian state-owned power utility EPS said on Monday it has signed a 13 million euro ($17.3 million) deal with local oil and gas company NIS for the supply of its Pancevo refinery with electricity in 2013.

A further two contracts to supply high-voltage electricity consumers have been signed so far - with Belgrade-based power utility Beogradske Elektrane and local mining company Rudnik Kovin, EPS said in a statement published on its website.

EPS added that after the holidays it will continue signing contracts with all high-voltage consumers who wish to retain the company as their supplier in the future.

The Serbian Energy Agency, AERS, said earlier this month that the country will deregulate 9.5% of its electricity market from January 1 as part of a process aimed at reaching full liberalization by 2015. In the first phase, 27 large industrial consumers will have to start buying their power on the deregulated segment as of next year.
