Serbia’s End-Sept Voluntary Pension Fund Net Assets Rise 84% Y/Y

December 18 (SeeNews) - The net assets of the voluntary pension funds (VPFs) operating in Serbia rose by 84% on the year to 3.976 billion dinars ($66.5 million/4.65 million euro) at end-September, data from the country’s central bank showed on Thursday.

At the end of June the VPFs had total net assets of 3.719 million dinars, the central bank said on its website.

The number of pension fund account holders rose by 6.0% from end-June to some 156,977 people through the third quarter, while the number of contracts in the same period was 4.0% higher at 202,762, the statement added.

Eight VPFs operated in Serbia at the end of September, with state-owned Dunav ranking first in terms of assets. The VPFs constitute the third tier of Serbia's pension system. There are no private mandatory funds, or a second tier, in Serbia yet.
