BELGRADE (Serbia), November 13 (SeeNews) – The government of Serbian capital Belgrade has amended the city's general urban plan, potentially opening up for commercial development part of the site of the local Danube river port, local media reported on Friday.
A section of some 70 hectares of the port site, currently occupied by production, warehousing and shipping operations, are earmarked for commercial development under the revised urban plan, local broadcaster b92 (www.b92.net) reported.
Luxembourg-based investment fund Worldfin owns 93.6% of port operator Luka Beograd. The balance is in the hands of smaller shareholders.
The port can handle three million tonnes of freight a year.
Luka Beograd shares closed unchanged at 1,900 dinars ($30/20.2 euro) on Friday.
