March 12 (SeeNews) - Serbia's consumer prices rose by 5.6% year-on-year in February, after increasing by an annual 6.4% in January, the statistical office said on Tuesday.
On a monthly comparison basis, Serbia's consumer price index (CPI) grew by 0.6% in February, after rising by 0.3% in January, the statistical office said in a statement.
The sharpest price increases compared to the previous year, by 9.8%, were registered in restaurant and hotel services. Following closely behind were healthcare services, with an 8.9% increase, and alcohol and tobacco, which saw an 8.1% rise. Costs related to housing, water, and energy increased by 7.6%. Prices for household equipment and maintenance went up by 7.5%, while prices of recreation and culture activities gained 7%. Clothing and footwear appreciated by 6.9%, and prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 4.7%.
On a monthly comparison basis, prices of alcohol and tobacco rose by 2% in February, transport was 1.9% more expensive and restaurant and hotel services climbed up 1%.
