November 6 (SeeNews) - Serbia had a consolidated budget deficit of 80.9 billion dinars ($1.3 billion/816.5 million euro) in the first nine months of 2009, Finance Ministry data indicated.
Budget revenue was 823.2 billion dinars through September, while spending totalled 904.1 billion dinars, the Finance Ministry said in a statement on its website. The ministry gave no comparative figures for the same period of 2008.
The International Monetary Fund has agreed to a rise in Serbia's 2009 budget deficit forecast to 4.5% of GDP from the 3.0% set initially under a 3.0 billion euro ($4.5 billion) loan deal signed with the lender in March.
Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic said last month the country’s budget deficit will total 4.0% of the projected GDP next year. He added Belgrade will need 1.6 billion euro to bridge its budget gaps in 2009 and 2010.
