Serbian power utility EPS turns to 9-mo net loss

November 7 (SeeNews) - State-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) turned to a net loss of 79.488 billion dinars ($676.6 million/677.8 million euro) in the first nine months of 2022 from a net profit of 8.528 billion dinars in the like period of last year, it said.

The company's revenue went up 19.4% on the year to 259 billion dinars, while costs soared to 319.2 billion dinars from 198.6 billion dinars, EPS said in a financial statement posted on its website.

EPS produced 25.5 TWh of electricity in the first nine months of 2022, in line with the planned output but 12% lower compared to the power produced in the like period of last year.

Electricity generated by hydropower plants amounted to 6.7 TWh, while coal-fired power plants generated 15.8 TWh in the nine-month period, in line with expectations.

Production of renewable energy on the review period stood at 7 TWh, 18% below the plan.
