Serbian fin min says UAE co Al Dahra eyes Novi Sad port

BELGRADE (Serbia), October 22 (SeeNews) – United Arab Emirates-based agriculture company Al Dahra will likely take over the local river port in Novi Sad with the view to turning it into an export-oriented logistics center, the Balkan country's finance minister said on Monday.

The UAE have an interest in such an undertaking because they are planning to invest in Serbia's agriculture sector in order to ensure their own food supplies and will need adequate logistics support, a finance ministry statement quoted Mladjan Dinkic as saying.

The Novi Sad harbor is located on the Danube river in the city of Novi Sad, in Serbia's northern province of Vojvodina.
