Serbian C-bank Licenses Reinsurer Wiener RE

November 14 (SeeNews) - Serbian central bank, NBS, on Friday said it has granted a licence to local insurance company Wiener RE, which is majority-owned by Austrian Wiener Stadtische, to operate as reinsurer.

This is the fourth reinsurance company to be licensed in Serbia, NBS said in a statement but gave no details.

The number of insurance companies operating in Serbia rose to 21 at the end of June from 20 a year earlier, the statement said. A total of 14 Serbian insurers are majority-owned by foreigners and the rest are domestically owned. One of them, Dunav Osiguranje, is majority state-owned.
