The government expects to agree on a concession for at least 20 years, in order to allow the environment-friendly processing of waste at the Vinca landfill, covering 68 hectares and accepting 2,700 tonnes of residue daily, news agency Beta quoted on Monday environment minister Goran Trivan as saying.
The project, valued at 300 million euro ($352.6 million), envisages the closure of the existing landfill, the use of landfill gas for energy production, the treatment of procedural waters, the construction of facilities for the treatment of municipal waste and the production of heat and electricity, as well as the construction of a recycling facility for construction waste, Beta said.
Belgrade city government said in July that a consortium of Suez and Itochu was the only bidder in a tender for a public-private partnership for the processing of urban waste in Vinca.
